Located
in the south-east corner of South Australia, Mount Gambier has a booming
population of 24,000. You will pass through the city when travelling
to or from the Great Ocean Road en route between Melbourne and Adelaide.
The mainstays of Mount Gambier are pinus radiata plantations,
associated timber mills and a strong agricultural economy.
There are many natural attractions that beautify Mount Gambier - dormant
volcanoes, the world-famous Blue Lake (where the water literally turns
blue between November and March), caves, sink holes and park-like pastures
sprinkled with majestic red gums.
